I feel this in many of my interactions - people want to be heard way more than they want hear. Being "heard" means being "right", "smart", and/or "validated". It's all ego-driven.
I'm also prone to this, there is some ego involved in my curiosity: part of my purpose for listening is for the purpose of being "different" from others/from the average.
